Today, on the day the UK leaves the EU, European Sun release The Future’s Female, a rallying cry for hope in a decade that threatens to be dark.
The song began with the recollection of a sad-but-true detail, the painful childhood story behind the first verse, and culminated in the realisation that almost all the things that make us despair, threaten the future, or endanger equality in the world have one thing in common: men. That said, the song, a cross between The TV Personalities, Jonathan Richman and Heavenly, never takes itself too seriously, or it wouldn't be rhyming 'Venus' with 'penis'... The Future’s Female features guest backing vocals from Sarah Corrie (Velocette, Comet Gain). The song is released on the day the UK leaves the European Union as a reminder of quite how we got there, while the band’s name itself makes sure we never forget that we are still Europeans, regardless of political chicanery. Available from 31 Jan 2020 via streaming and download.
